Create a flourishing workplace.

Before we became amphibians, we were human beings — consultants who spent decades working with companies of all shapes and sizes. From fortune five hundreds to growing start-ups, we helped them with organizational change, customer and employee experience design and brand strategy. We worked with healthy cultures and challenging ones. We enjoyed meaningful, productive relationships and found our way through the difficult ones. We were energized by companies ahead of the curve, and respectfully navigated through the ones clinging to old ways of work.

But with every organization, team and project - we always saw sparks. Those moments when people found energy in opportunity, momentum in doing things differently and pride in creating something meaningful. Those moments made the work matter for all of us. And when the work mattered, we were all successful.

Maybe we should have done it sooner, but we finally took the time to ask the simple question: Why do humans work?

And that was the start of our own transformation.

We believe that humans accomplish great things when given the right conditions. We exist to create adaptive, joyful work experiences where people flourish.

We followed our hearts, and started a firm focused on helping companies create future-ready workplaces. The kind that can handle the constant change and complexity of today’s work world.

We’re Amphibian — a firm focused on creating flourishing, regenerative and adaptive workplaces filled with passionate human beings.

Why Human Beings Work.

(The tenets that drive us)

A sense of calling
answered with personal pride in work.

The act of creating
answered by producing valuable work.

Part of a community
answered by living in a unique culture and place.

An ability to contribute
answered by connecting to a bigger purpose.

The opportunity for compensation
answered by feeling rewarded in multiple ways.

Mark Brown

Long before co-founding Amphibian – a future-of-work consultancy, Mark knew that businesses were heading toward an existential crisis. Either remove the bureaucracy, outdated management models and control-by-fear mindset depressing the potential of teams, or die slowly on the vine as more adaptive and empowered organizations find rapid growth.

Mark’s career started at Accenture and then further as a business and workplace experience consultant leading transformation efforts for organizations like the US Postal Service and Capital One. While those experiences served and taught him well, he saw the barriers holding people back, and began a decade long journey of digging into the deeper meaning of work itself. A zealot for empathy and healthy team dynamics, Mark helps companies solve tough workplace experience challenges and teams deliver to their fullest potential.

His work has impacted organizations like Pratt & Whitney, GE, Capital One, Wells Fargo, The USPS, Tredegar Corporation, Chick-fil-A, Raytheon, Think Bank, and Winnebago Industries.
